The Paul Smiths VIC is hosting an exhibit of visual arts exploring climate change; the exhibit coincides with theScience, Art and Music Festival on 18 April 2015. Regional visual artists interested in climate change have been asked to experiment with embodying a thought, concept, emotion, or insight. The exhibit is an experiment in how the visual arts can be used in communicating about climate change through a variety of media: pencil drawings, monotype prints, and collage, as well as oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings in a variety of styles – some very innovative. The regional artists participating in this exhibit all live here in the Adirondacks and draw inspiration from these surroundings.
The exhibit hangs from 17 to 21 April 2015. The exhibit will then move to NorthWind Fine Arts on 11 Woodruff Street in Saranac Lake, New York, and will hang there from 1 May to 31 May, with an opening reception on 1 May from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
